Hudson Photographic Artistry has been featured for September in the 2010 Calendar distributed by DBTAC Northwest. (DBTAC means Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center)

The studio was selected because it was named 2009 Small Private Employer by the Governor’s Committee on Disability Issues and Employment. Accompanied by photos of the studio’s staff, the calendar also included a short description of the business:

“Hudson Photographic Artistry, portrait studio founded in 1946, was purchased by its current owner, Rex-zane Rudee, in 1982. In 2008, as the studio gained in popularity, Rex, and his son and business partner, Quinn, considered the idea of hiring some people with disabilities to help with the considerable computer work the studio demanded.

“Through Holly Ridge Center, a non-profit employment center that works with people with disabilities, Alison was hired. Alison was accommodated with a computer and keyboard from Washington Department of Services for the Blind, and flourished at the studio.

“After the success of hiring Alison, Hudson went through the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and hired Aaron as a custodian. All of Hudson’s employees participate fully in the studio’s employee activities, and owners look forward to hiring more people with disabilities.”

Bremerton’s Hudson

Honored by State

Hudson Photography, located in downtown Bremerton, has been named the “Small Private Employer of the Year” by the Governor’s Office on Disability Issues and Employment and Washington State Business Leaders Network.

Rex-zane Rudee, who owns the studio with his son, Quinn, accepted the award at the event at Microsoft headquarters in Redmond Friday morning. Hudson Photographic Artistry was nominated by the Holly Ridge Center, on behalf of a Holly Ridge client who has been an employee at the studio for over a year.

Companies and organizations that include and support individuals with disabilities through recruitment, hiring, promotion and job retention were honored in nine categories. Small private employers are considered those with fewer than 25 employees. One other Kitsap County company, Companion Animal Wellness Center of Poulsbo, was nominated.

We are exctied to be blogging and feel this is a great way to not only communicate our latest photo specials but also let anyone and everyone know whats going on at Hudson Photographic Artistry.

As this is new for us I imagine we will start off with a number of posts just to get caught up and then develop some sort of routine for posting.  Perhaps once a week or bi-monthly.

Oh and we are a photography studio after all, so we can't post something without including an image.  Above is our Hudson crew photo.  Far left is Rex-Zane Rudee, Far Right is Quinn Rudee.  Starting from the front left going clockwise is: Kenneth Gatlin, Alicia Thompson, Allison Stough, Kristin Moore, Dawn Ruth, Heidi Giacalone and Miriam Loker.  Not picture: Josh Hippe, Kim Moore, Pam Rudee & Gamze Rudee.  We have individual crew photos as well which will be revealed later with more info about each individual.
